AUTUMN WINTER 2017

INDESSENTIAL- Redefining Indian Essentials

Reimagining a Wedding

Without a doubt, the Indian Wedding is an Indian Essential.

The final part of our trilogy this season puts the spotlight on how we envision festive dressing.

As a bride a decade ago, I chose to pair a vintage Benarasi brocade lehenga, with a blouse that I made from an heirloom brocade textile and a vintage dupatta that I had procured. The alternatives available then, were too heavy, too cluttered, cumbersome and frankly too expensive.

I wore it with my silver jewelry and flats. I was more comfortable than a number of my guests. I not only saved money for travel, I've also worn all three components, for friends and family weddings since, with comfort and without feeling overdressed.

This is the girl I had in mind when we introduced our Limited Edition of Brocades in 2014 at our first flagship store.

The idea was to offer a solution to women like myself, for whom the clothes were important, but not more integral than the occasion itself. Women that are practical, that want to enjoy the party, and prefer not be broke at the end of it.

I keep in mind the practicality of being able to pack light and with ease, for destination weddings. And offer a range of easy separates for festive dressing that can be switched around and teamed with other staples from our label, so that you can wear them to Diwali parties, cocktails, dinners and other related celebrations. Our hand woven brocades and silk palazzos, jumpsuits, dresses, lehengas, kurtas and tunics are the Indessentials for all formal occasions.

Their understated elegance allows them to be timeless and their intricate craftsmanship makes them luxurious.

The brocades are woven in complex floral patterns of beils, butis, butas and jaals in aged gold and silver thread. We developed these motifs to contrast them with woven stripes to underline the duality of elements, both organic and linear.

The structured silhouettes are teamed with our distinct softer drapes to add drama. And our signature jewel colour palette alongside softer pastels makes our offering this season both strong and soft at the same time.

They are an extension of what we suggest each season, simple and sensible clothing for women, that consistently pick effortless personal style over fashion, even when they decide to play dress-up.
